News of the confiscation of rare animals from the official residence of Nova Iriansyah (then Governor of Aceh) has been circulating on social media. The animals confiscated were one Golden-crested Hornbill (Rhyticeros Undulatus), one Black Eagle (Ictinaetus Malayensis), three Brahminy Kites (Haliastur Indus), and three Crested Serpent Eagles (Nisaetus Cirrhatus).

The existence of the protected animals in the official residence of the number one person in Aceh was leaked to the public from a tweet by a netizen, Danurfan, through his Twitter account, @IndiGem. He claimed to have received information that there were Golden-crested Hornbills and Eagles at the official residence occupied by Nova Iriansyah.

“I received information that there are Golden-crested Hornbills and eagles at the residence of the Governor of Aceh @niriansyah. As far as I know, those are endangered animals (appendix II) that are currently protected by the state. Having them is an illegal act. Why don’t you return them, sir?” wrote Danurfan, the owner of Leuser coffee shop.
